Dr. Raesima is a dedicated public health practitioner with over 15 years of experience in clinical service delivery and national level public health work in Botswana. Currently studying for a PhD at La Trobe University, Dr Raesima’s research interest is in older adults with cancer focusing on implementation of geriatric assessment in care. Dr. Raesima holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from St. Georges University, Grenada, West Indies and a dual Master’s in Public Health (MPH) and Master in Healthcare Management (MHM) from University of New South Wales, Australia. She is a leader in cervical cancer prevention and control with hands-on cervical cancer screening and pre-cancer treatment experience, and proven leadership of the Botswana National Cervical Cancer Prevention Programme. One of her achievements in this role was coordinating and overseeing the Human Papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) demonstration project that led to the introduction of HPV vaccine into the national immunization schedule and is funded by Botswana Government. Dr. Raesima has a passion for health policy and systems programming in health services delivery.
